Thankfully:

There are a large number of scholarships and grants that can help you pay for grad school. And some only accept applications from female applicants.

Society for Women Engineers Scholarships

Deadline: February 14, 2020
Award: $1,000 – $10,000
Eligibility: Only candidates who identify as a female/woman. Masters and PhD candidates must be enrolled or accepted at a school with ABET-accredited programs in engineering, computing, or technology. You must be planning to attend full time.

Ethnic Minority and Women’s Enhancement Graduate Scholarship

Deadline: February 18, 2020
Application Opens: September 16
Award: $10,000
Eligibility: Open to qualified minority and female students or student-athletes at an active NCAA member institution. Must be have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.2 and be at least in their final season of NCAA athletics eligibility or will not be using any remaining athletics eligibility. Must also be seeking admission or have been accepted into a sports administration or other graduate program that will assist the applicant in obtaining a career in intercollegiate athletics.

(ISC)² Women’s Scholarships

Eligibility: You may be a senior in high school, an undergraduate student, graduate or postgraduate student. Must be pursuing, or plan to pursue, a degree with a focus on cybersecurity or information assurance. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.3. You will need to submit an application for the Graduate Scholarships (which are open to both women and men) in order to be considered.

Jeannette Rankin Women’s Scholarships

Eligibility: You may be a senior in high school, an undergraduate student, graduate or post graduate student. Must be pursuing, or plan to pursue, a degree with a focus on cybersecurity or information assurance. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.3. You will need to submit an application for the Graduate Scholarships (which are open to both women and men) in order to be considered.

Gertrude M. Cox Scholarship

Award: $1,000
Eligibility: Application is limited to women who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States or Canada and who are admitted to full-time study in a graduate statistics program by July 1 of the award year. Women in or entering the early stages of graduate training (MS or PhD) are especially encouraged to apply.

Erin Aaberg Givans Memorial Scholarship

Award: $5,000
Eligibility: Must be a female student attending a graduate institution/ program in California in the upcoming academic year; pursuing a Master’s degree in public policy, public administration or public health with a career goal of working in the field of children’s health policy or children’s health advocacy; and have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (preference will go to 3.5 or better).

Women In Defense HORIZONS Scholarship

Award: $1,000 – $5,000
Eligibility: Applicant must be a female currently enrolled or expected to be enrolled at an accredited university or college by the next academic term, either full-time or part-time. Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible. Must demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career related to national security or defense and have a minimum GPA of 3.25.

Minority Women in STEM Bi-Annual Scholarship

Award Amount: $3,000
Eligibility: Open to women-identifying students from backgrounds underrepresented in STEM industries. Applicants must currently be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at a 4-year, 2-year, vocational, or technical institution in the United States. Women must either be majoring in a STEM field or be actively engaged in personal projects or jobs in the STEM field to apply.

Financial Women of San Francisco Scholarship

Eligibility: Open to women pursuing undergraduate and graduate finance-related degrees. Must be enrolled at a college or university in the Bay Area (CA).

Elevate Women in Technology Scholarship

Eligibility: Open to students at any educational level and field of study. The only application requirement is that students are women who intend to enter a technical or non-technical career that leverages technology to make the world a better place.

Chicana Latina Foundation Scholarship Program

Award Amount: $1,500
Eligibility: Applicants must self-identify as a Chicana and/or Latina and be enrolled in an accredited college, university, or community college in one of the following California counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Monterey, Napa, Sacramento, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, San Francisco, Sonoma, or Yolo. Must have lived at least two (2) years in one of the above Northern California counties at the time of application. Graduate students must be enrolled graduate/professional students completing course/thesis/dissertation; or have been accepted into graduate/profession school; and a cumulative GPA of 2.7 for college coursework.

WIIT Student Scholarships

The National Black Nurses Association Scholarship Program

Eligibility: Must be a member of NBNA and a member of a local chapter (if one exists in your area). If a chapter does not exist within a 50-radius of your location you can join NBNA as a Direct Member. Candidate must be currently enrolled in a nursing program (B.S.N., A.D., Diploma or L.P.N./ L.V.N. Masters , and Doctoral) and in good scholastic standing at the time of application. NWSA Women of Color Caucus-Frontiers Student Essay Award

Eligibility: Open to women of color who are current individual NWSA members and currently enrolled in a graduate or a professional program. Recent recipients of a terminal degree (no later than May 2019) are also eligible to apply.

Ida Foreman Fleisher Fund Scholarships for Graduate Studies for Women

Award: $2,000 – $8,000
Eligibility: The fund provides scholarships for women, preferably Jewish, who wish to pursue a graduate degree. Eligibility is limited to women who have a hometown or attend school in the Greater Philadelphia area, including New Jersey and Delaware.

Colorado Women’s Education Foundation Scholarship

Eligibility: Must be a woman who is at least 25 years old, a U.S. citizen, and resident of Colorado for at least 12 months before the application deadline. Applicants need to be accepted and enrolled in accredited higher education institutions and be seeking vocational certifications or an associates, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree.

APA Foundation Scholarships

Eligibility: Open to women, people of color and indigenous descent, veterans, disabled persons, and members of the LGBTQ community who are currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate Planning Accreditation Board (PAB)-approved programs. Applicants must be APA members; membership for students is free.

AICP Scholarship Program

Award: $1,500
Eligibility: All applicants, whether undergraduate or post-graduate, must have declared his/her major course work to be in the field of Insurance, Actuarial Science, Economics, Finance, Management, Mathematics, Risk Management, Statistics, or a Business-related field. Applicants must have completed the equivalent of at least two (2) years of full-time college course-work, earned fifty percent (50%) of credit hours required for graduation, or have completed an Associate degree from an accredited educational institution. Must have a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.00.

National Pathfinder Scholarship

Award: $2,500
Eligibility: Open to women seeking undergraduate or graduate degrees. Undergraduate sophomores, juniors and seniors, as well as students enrolled in a master’s degree program, are eligible to apply for the scholarship.

“Women In STEM Excel” Scholarship

Patsy Takemoto Mink Education Foundation Scholarship

Award: up to $5,000
Eligibility: Applicant must be woman, at least 17 years of age; a mother with minor children; and pursuing a first professional/master’s/doctoral degree. Must be low-income (all annual family income less than $20,000 for a family of 2; less than $24,000 for a family of 3; less than $28,000 for a family of 4).

Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarships

Markforged Distinguished Women Engineers Grant

Eligibility: Open to women studying any engineering field at a top-tier technical undergraduate or graduate university program in the US. While applicants from any engineering field are welcome, candidates who have demonstrated excellence in cloud computing, material science, industrial design, 3D printing, manufacturing, etc. will be given preference. 

Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.) Scholar Awards

Award Amount: up to $15,000
Eligibility: A woman is eligible for nomination by a P.E.O. local chapter if she: is a citizen or legal permanent resident of the U.S. or Canada; at a minimum, has a bachelor’s degree; is within two years of her graduation date and has at least one full academic year of work remaining to complete her doctoral level degree as measured from the time the first award payment is made. Those in a “Medical Scholars Program” pursuing both an M.D. and a Ph.D. must be within two years of completing the entire program from that date.
