Clever Fox Planner Review: Good for College?

Daily academic planners – there are a lot of options for college students to choose from!
Because of this:
Choosing a planner for college can quickly get overwhelming, especially if you’re a freshman student trying to navigate your first year.
And:
To make matters worse, not all planners are created equal. The truth of it is, some planners are better for some people and others are better for other people.
It all comes down to personal planning preference!
So in today’s post, I’m going to answer this question:
Is the Clever Fox Planner A Good Planner for College Students?
The answer is…well, you’ll have to keep reading to find out for yourself! I go in-depth in this planner review to give you all the important details.
DISCLAIMER: I was sent a Clever Fox Planner in exchange for this review. However all thoughts, experiences & opinions are my own.

Let’s dive right into this review!
The Clever Fox Planner arrived in this clean, white box which made for a good first impression (sorry – stars are not included 😉 ). The box is a nice touch because it insured that the planner arrived in perfect condition.
I opted for the Clever Fox Planner with a black cover, but it also comes in bright pink. The cover is hard and has a faux leather feel.
Once I opened the box up, I found some extras in there besides the planner.
Like this instructional card that let me know how to use the planner.
And three sheets of stickers! And who doesn’t love planner stickers?

What’s Inside
Now let’s take a peek at the inside of the planner!
The first several pages in this planner include:
- A Gratitude & Self Awareness page
- A Daily Rituals/Habits page
- 2 pages for a Vision Board
- Pages for Goals
- and a dotted Mind Map page
These are nice for creating a big picture look of your upcoming year. After all, our the first step to making thoughts become reality is writing them down.
Month at Glance
Following right after those pages are the monthly calendar spreads. All of them are grouped together here at the front of the planner.
Personally, I’m not a huge fan of this part of the layout.
And I might just be use to how most planners are laid out: with each month section before the weekly and/or daily planning pages. But for me, this is a small drawback.
Daily Planning
Right before each set of daily planning pages is a spot for weekly goals and to-do lists, as well as any habit tracking you may want to do.
I like this section, it’s a great way to remind yourself to think ahead for the week.
Now:
For what I consider to be the main attraction as to why the Clever Fox Planner makes for a great daily academic planner for students.
The daily planning pages!
There is so. much. space. for writing!
The main difference between the Clever Fox Daily Planner and the popular, original Clever Fox Planner is that there are A LOT more pages.
Y’all – she THICC!
But in a good way. Because all that extra thickness comes from the daily planning pages.
There is space to plan your schedule down to the hour each day, which is a handy feature to look for when picking a planner for college.
Especially if you’re taking a full credit load and you need to be ON TRACK all throughout your day.
And:
I want to point out that while this version is a little wider across the middle than it’s thinner counterpart, it’s definitely not heavy. It comes in just under a pound and a half on my scale.
Weekly Review
At the end of each week of daily pages there is a page labeled Weekly Review and it’s for just that:
Reflecting on your week.
This presents the opportunity to take a look back, which I find to be pretty useful for aiding in personal growth. Because being self aware can really help drive positive change.
Finally:
At the back of the planner there are 10 dot grid pages for notes. It’s always nice to have extra space for writing or doodling!
Extras
There are a few little extra features on this planner I enjoy.
Like the the pen loop, which always a handy for a planner! ?
And a pocket on the back inside cover. Useful for storing the stickers it came with, notes or other small things.
To recap…
What I Like About This Planner – Pros
- Undated (can start with it any time during the year)
- LOTS of space for day to day planning – great for planning a college schedule
- Plenty of pages for goal and habit tracking
- Handheld size
- Stickers included
- Back cover pocket
- Pen loop
What I Don’t Love About This Planner – Cons (IMO)
- Monthly calendar pages are all grouped together at the beginning of the planner instead of before each month’s worth of daily planning pages
- No tabs (sticker tabs you could place on your own might be nice)
- Not a lot of cover color options
